Just as the astronauts go for extensive training at zero-gravity space centre before finally space voyage where there is no trace of gravity or air. Your inner space is resemblance to outer space. Cosmic “prana” (vital energy) exists within sleeping kundalini.

Early six days training remains devoted to purification of subtle channels of energy, which are known as “nadis” & “chakras”. What is Kundalini Yoga Course?

Kundalini is hidden power with tremendous potential to bring spiritual evolution in your life. It remains in sleeping state at base chakra (mooladhara chakra). It exists in perineum between origin of genitals and the anus. Without purification of mind & body, activation of chakra is nearly impossible.  Kundalini yoga teacher training course in Rishikesh steers you to familiarize with mystic powers concealed in different subtle channels of vital energy

Kundalini originates from Sanskrit word “kunda” which means pit or burrow. Kundalini remains in coiled form (three & half times). The purpose of tantra yoga is to activate the base chakra where “shakti” resides in coiled form. Spiritual evolution starts when sleeping serpent uncoil and ascend to higher levels of consciousness by piercing three psychic knots. Awakening of kundalini is part of tantra yoga, which starts with inner purification of hatha yoga.

Why awaken kundalini?

Life is more than breathing, earning & gratification of senses. By contributing something to society, you can make your existence valuable. It is possible only when you have creative mind and adequate energy to carry out your noble mission. Deep faith in your kundalini shakti empower you to achieve something unachievable and cross all hurdles in life comfortably.

It hones your existing skills and helps in crafting your own space in any specific chosen field. It accelerates your physical, mental, psychological & spiritual evolution.  As your consciousness refine and go higher and higher, you simultaneously touch new levels of achievements. These are some new novel experiences revealed by kundalini yoga practitioners.

Kundalini only represent as coiled snake resting in lower chakra and waiting for sublime change in consciousness level.

The serpent power of kundalini symbolizes unconscious state of man. It always ascends in psychic passage bringing newer spiritual evolution as it touch new height of consciousness. The three coils of serpent represent past, present and future. It also expresses three states of consciousness—waking, sleeping & dreaming.

  • Ascending of consciousness as kundalini shoots-up
  • Kundalini is worshipped in different forms across world
  • It is harbinger of peace, bliss and prosperity

Rakesh Tiwari

Delhi, India

I went through inexplicable experience during basic course of silence meditation by Spirit Yoga Foundation. It was a unique experience of living in your own conscience by disconnecting with outer world. All the participants weren’t allowed to talk during the whole practice of seven days. We were instructed to calm our five senses which otherwise if active can distract the mind. Now, I am eagerly looking forward to go through advance course of silence meditation.

Puran Adhikari

Interlakhan, Switzerland

During school days, I used to hear, “if speech is silver, than silence is god”. I realized its meaning when I remained in total silence for 7 days while undergoing basic course of silence meditation. The silence of place in the close vicinity of nature was enough to put our mood towards meditation. No cell-phone, no talk, no gesture for communication was allowed. It drifted me to inner peace of existence.

Balwinder Singh Madhok

Chnadigarh, India

The advanced course of silence meditation is amazing. It purifies my inner conscience by eliminating all the negativity. The ambiance of yoga center is enough to go through silence experience of meditation smoothly. The meditation room is spacious where I felt no disturbance---outer or inner. At the end of day, I always felt new wave of vigor is flowing in the whole body. I revived a harmony in my mental, physical & conscience levels by completing this course successfully.

I achieved tremendous change in my personality. And, I personally want to convey my warm greetings to teaching staff of SYF who leave no stone unturned to make my days special in meditation learning. The advance course of silence meditation creates mental clarity, hones your rational thinking and makes you mature in decision-making power.

Every human comes to this earth with inherent divine energy in hidden form. Due to illusion, you ever trapped in worldly bondages and sense-gratification remains your ultimate goal. Kundalini yoga is traditional yoga to connect with your cosmic feminine energy which is known as kundalini shakti. The stirring of this “prana shakti” paves the way for inner transformation.

Kundalini yoga is a traditional way of searching divinity within you. It culminates with union of cosmic energy (shakti) with cosmic consciousness (Shiva), and both exists within your subtle body. It is a complete inner yoga where you recharge expressway of prana (vital energy). Guru plays a vital role from stirring kundalini to activation of chakras.

It starts with selected asana series to bring stability & stamina in body, followed by balanced breathing for inner purification. Then, purification of nadis and prana is done through pranayama with yogic gestures and yogic lock. The ratio of inhalation, exhalation & retention is also balanced through yogic breathing. Yogic gesture (mudra) and yogic lock (bandhas) are other important elements of kundalini yoga. It ends with chanting of seed mantra, silence meditation & kundalini kriya.

  • Maintain divine dignity at yoga centre
  • Vegetarian food ( no smoking & drinking)
  • Follow guru’s instructions acutely
  • Fit body & balanced mind (no phobia/fear)

In kundalini yoga, “prana” is the vehicle or the medium for carrying consciousness. It is the symbol of kundalini power in human body. The existence of all life is owed to prana. When “prana” flows in all subtle channels of the body, you gain actual experience of kundalini recoiling at base chakra.

Chakra is wheel of psychic centers in subtle body which is seven in number. It is bundle of pranic energy which controls the circulation of prana in the entire body. Kundalini lies in dormant state in the base chakra which is also known as mooladhara chakra. As kundalini ascends and reach at the top chakra (sahasrara chakra) passing through other five chakras, the real expression of kundalini yoga start.

Hatha yoga is the stepping-stone to reach higher yoga or kundalini yoga. It elevates to the new level of consciousness after transcending the worldly consciousness. The components of hatha yoga are:

  • Shatkarma: Six yogic purification for entire body
  • Asana: Brings stability in your body by stirring channels of energy
  • Pranayama: Purifies the nadis and promote the flow of prana shakti
  • Bandha: Blocking & conserving energy for practicing kundalini yoga
  • Mudra: Yogic gestures for awakening of chakras & kundalini

The best time is onset of winter months to end of March in Rishikesh. Kundalini yoga is not preferable when the temperature is above 35 degree Celsius. That’s the reason why yogis move to cool Himalayan region for the practice of kundalini yoga, during hot and sultry months of summer.

There are seven chakras in subtle body:

  1. Mooladhara chakra: At the base of spine, deep dark red with four petals
  2. Svadhistana chakra: At the base of reproductive organ with red lotus with 6 petals
  3. Manipura Chakra: At navel along spine, bright yellow lotus with 10 petals
  4. Anahata Chakra: At heart along spine, deep red lotus with 12 petals
  5. Vishuddhi chakra: Behind throat pit along spine, pure blue lotus with 16 petals
  6. Ajna chakra: In the centre of brain behind eyebrows, pure white lotus with 2 petals
  7. Sahasrara: In the crown of head , all color merge with thousand petals

There may be more than a lakh nadis (subtle tubes carrying prana), but the primarily ones related to kundalini yoga are ida, pingala and shushmana:

Ida: It represents moon which control your mental power

Pingala: It represents sun which control physical energy

Shushmana: It is major nadi on which kundalini ascends
