The 10 days kundalini yoga teachers training course in Rishikesh is intended to purify your subtle form of energy channels (nadis & chakras). It is the basic course in kundalini yoga which prepares you physically and mentally for the advanced kundalini yoga. The basic techniques begin with asanas, pranayama & meditation of hatha yoga.

It also includes chanting of seed mantras, selected 10-15 asanas and basic to advanced level pranayam. It is done in combination with yogic gestures (mudras) & transformation of energy with the grace of guru. It focuses on purification of nadis/chakras and unexplored dimension of awareness. It prepares you for the advanced kundalini yoga course.

Kundalini Yoga Techniques in Rishikesh

The 10 days kundalini yoga course incorporates practical and theoretical training in a balancing way. The practical training is the most vital one and demands daily practice for six hours. The theoretical portion will be of two hours daily.

Techniques

The preliminary kundalini yoga course in Rishikesh will run for 10 days with major attention on self-purification by self-practice under guru guidance.  As the yoga evolves out of self-practice, we will focus on techniques of kundalini yoga for each practitioner. The philosophy class will be centred around hatha yoga, meditation on seven chakras and traditional kundalini yoga philosophy.

Hatha Yoga Kriya

It is traditional techniques which involves specific asana of hatha yoga where you learn stability and also open the passage for the flow of energy. It prepare for expanding your consciousness from outer to inward.

  • Practice one-hour daily 12-15 selected asanas

  • Selected asanas for breath awareness
  • Awareness shift from gross to subtle

Pranic Kriya

It is a yogic breathing for three hours at two different levels—-one is normal pranayama kriya & other advance yogic breathing. It will bring rhythm in inhalation/exhalation by clearing nasal passage. You have to practice with long sitting for pranic kriya.

Gesture & Locking Energy (Mudras & bandhas)

It is a traditional technique. Length of time for holding mudra & bandha is significant in kundalini yoga. Their combination with pranayama & meditation also plays a decisive role. You redirect all the energy for stirring the kundalinin shakti.

The Spirit Yoga Foundation has set standard rules & regulations to maintain decorum and dignity which all students are expected to follow strictly.

Every human being is gifted with cosmic energy in hidden form. Due to worldly illusion, you never understand your divine form of energy. It remains untapped at base chakra near origin of spinal cord. Kundalini starts with purification of subtle channels of energy by yogic breathing (pranayama). When you stir the sleeping feminine power, it paves the way for inner transformation.

It is complete internal yogic action. Mastery over any one asana is must, as yoga practitioner has to sit for long hours in silent & secluded spot. You need high level of attention and concentration to meditate on chakras. Guru plays a crucial role in the stirring of kundalini. Nearly 80 percent you have to practice on your own, and rest rely on the transformation of energy from guru to disciple.

It starts with few asana series which helps in stirring kundalini and also in purification of subtle channels of energy. Then, purification of nadis and prana control is done through pranayama. The ratio of inhalation, exhalation & retention is also balanced through yogic breathing. Gesture (mudra) and locking of energy (bandhas) are other important elements of kundalini yoga. In kundalini yoga, prana is the vehicle or the medium for carrying consciousness. It is the symbol of kundalini power in human body. The existence of all life is owed to prana. When prana flows in all subtle parts of the body, you have actual experience of kundalini stirring at base chakra.

Chakra is wheel of psychic centers in subtle body which is seven in number. It is bundle of pranic energy which controls the circulation of prana in the entire body. Kundalini lies in dormant state in the base chakra which is also known as mooladhara chakra. As kundalini ascends and reach at the top chakra (sahasrara chakra) passing through other five chakras, the real expression of kundalini yoga start.

Hatha yoga is the stepping-stone to reach higher yoga or kundalini yoga. It elevate to the new level of consciousness after transcending the worldly consciousness. The components of hatha yoga are:

There are seven chakras in subtle body:

  1. Mooladhara chakra: At the base of spine, deep dark red with four petals
  2. Svadhistana chakra: At the base of reproductive organ with pure-red lotus with 6 petals
  3. Manipura Chakra: At navel along spine, bright yellow lotus with 10 petals
  4. Anahata Chakra: At heart along spine, deep red lotus with 15 petals
  5. Vishuddhi chakra: Behind throat pit along spine, pure blue lotus with 16 petals
  6. Ajna chakra: In the centre of brain behind eyebrows, pure white lotus with 2 petals
  7. Sahasrara: In the crown of head , all color merge with thousand petals
